Which Monitor is the Best Choice for Your Baby?

New developments in baby monitors give parents more options when choosing a baby monitor. This article will review several brands; BeBe Sounds, Evenflo, Fisher-Price Graco, Mobi, Safety First, and Summer.

BeBe Sounds by Unisar offers sound, movement, and video monitors. The Angelcare Movement Senor with Sound offers both movement and sound monitoring in one unit. The movement alarm will sound if baby is absolutely still for 20 seconds. Their sound model is compact and is available with one or two receivers.

Evenflo offers several variations of the Whisper Connect audio monitor. Features on all models include sound lights, two channels, low battery indicator, rechargeable batteries, and belt clip. Reception range varies by model from 400 feet to 650 feet. Evenflo's expanded options include two-way and three-way walkie-talkies that allow parents to talk to each other and listen to baby.

Fisher-Price carries several sound baby monitors models. The least expensive Sounds 'N Lights Monitor is a basic model with one receiver with two channels. Other Fisher-Price models include extra receivers, privacy protection, and a long distance feature with an out of range warning.

Graco provides analog and digital sound monitors, and digital video baby monitors. Analog models are the least expensive, but do have some special features. The Respond model allows you to record your voice and will automatic play it when your baby fusses. Graco's digital sound monitors offer long distance coverage range of 2000 feet. Digital Color Video Monitor offers a 1.9-inch color video screen, digital clarity and privacy, zoom, and infrared night vision technology.

Mobi offers sleek, compact designs and wireless capability in both audio and video monitors. Their digital audio monitor features two-way audio communication with paging, rechargeable battery or AC operation, an out of range warning, and belt clip. This model features night vision technology, wide camera viewing angle, voice activated transmission with auto mute, and a 1.8-inch ultra high-resolution TFT color monitor.

Safety First models feature reception range of 400 feet, battery or AC operation, rechargeable batteries, and low battery indicator. Safety First's video monitor features a range of up to 300 feet, a 5-inch black and white screen, adjustable camera angle, and battery or AC operation.
Summer has the largest selection of both sound and video baby monitors. All models feature AC or wireless battery operation and most models have volume control. All Summer's video models include infrared night vision technology and AC or wireless battery operation; however, the range is only 350 feet. A model for your car is also available.
